Internet Delivered Media
Stefan PhamThis tutorial will cover the latest advances in the context of internet delivered media, specifically adaptive bitrate (ABR) streaming. For that reason, we dive into streaming formats and protocols such as MPEG-DASH, HLS and Media over QUIC (MoQ). Latest features and standards like Content Steering and Common Media Client Data (CMCD) version 2 are discussed in detail. The practical part of this tutorial focuses on dash.js discussing the latest major version 5 release and features such as AdaptationSet Switching and native DRM key status handling.
The following topics are addressed:
- Streaming formats and protocols: MPEG-DASH, HLS, CENC, CMAF, HTTP/3, QUIC, Web Transport
- Streaming optimizations: CMCD, CMSD, Content Steering, Media Presentation Insertion, L3D DASH
- Standards update: SVTA, CTA-WAVE, C2PA
- dash.js version 5.0.0: AdaptationSet Switching, DRM Key Status Handling, Integration of the Common Player Library, Flexible Insertion of URL Parameters, Common Access Token

LLMs in Media
Christopher KraussWith media increasingly powered by Artificial Intelligence, mastering the underlying technologies is essential for shaping innovative, responsive, and efficient media solutions. This tutorial provides a comprehensive introduction to AI and Large Language Models (LLMs), offering deep insights and practical know-how for media professionals.
We will explore foundational concepts of AIs, examine state-of-the-art LLMs, and practice model training and fine-tuning techniques. Through interactive hands-on sessions, we will gain experiences with real-world applications — such as LLM-based chatbots with intelligent document retrieval systems (RAG), data analysis with vector embedding, AI-based assistant for search platform, vision-language models for video-chatbots, and interview bots for knowledge capture. We’ll also cover how to secure authenticity and provenance in generative AI with C2PA.
Topics:
- AI & LLM Fundamentals: Conception and overview of AI and Large Language Models.
- Model Training & Manipulation: Techniques for training, fine-tuning, and customizing output of LLMs for media applications.
- Vision-Language Models: Overview and practical use-cases combining visual and textual data.
- Hands-on Applications:
- Developing LLM-based chatbots and intelligent document-based conversational agents (RAG systems).
- Advanced data annotation and semantic analysis with vector embeddings.
- Implementation techniques for AI-based assistant of search platform.
- Implementing video-based chatbots using vision-language models.
- Creating interview bots for knowledge extraction and externalization.
- Securing Authenticity in GenAI: Ensuring trust, provenance, and authenticity in AI-generated media using C2PA standards.

Virtual Worlds
Trainer:Louay BassboussLouay BassboussThe concept of Virtual Worlds is rapidly evolving, driven by groundbreaking initiatives and technological advancements. This tutorial will explore the transformative impact of Virtual Worlds on the media industry, highlighting real-world examples that showcase their potential.
We will begin by examining the key initiatives propelling the development of Virtual Worlds, discussing their implications for media production, distribution, and consumption. The tutorial will then delve into the technology enablers that make these immersive experiences possible, with a focus on Extended Reality (XR) and Spatial Computing.
In the realm of Spatial Computing, we will explore how Apple’s VisionOS and the newly announced Android XR are set to revolutionize Virtual Worlds. Additionally, we will cover state-of-the-art technologies for capturing photorealistic environments and human representations, including Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF), 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), and advanced avatar animations such as Apple Personas on Apple Vision Pro and Meta Pixel Codec Avatars for Meta Quest headsets.

Content Provenance and Authenticity
André PaulThis tutorial offers an insight into the world of digital authenticity and provenance mechanisms. While we have gained experience with analog solutions in the past, our current focus is on the digital level. With the proliferation of social media, deep fakes and disinformation, this topic is becoming increasingly relevant. In this tutorial, we shed light on the role of technologists, the importance of provenance and authenticity in digital media, and discuss technical approaches. Our main focus is on the use of C2PA, not only in the field of images and moving images, but also in other possible applications.
The tutorial is structured as follows:
- Provenance & authenticity: Importance in the context of digital media
- The role of technologists and research in the fight against counterfeiting
- Open standards: Introduction to the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA)
- C2PA in video sections: Our experiences with VoD, Dash and Live
- Multilayered areas of application: Where C2PA could play a role alongside image & video media
- Development status and challenges for the application areas of C2PA
- Practical examples of application and case studies on C2PA
