Alex Giladi is a Principal Architect at Netflix and an Emmy-winning technologist focused on low-latency live streaming at scale, server-guided dynamic ad insertion, streaming observability, and video coding. Before Netflix, he spent nearly a decade at Comcast as Fellow of Advanced Technologies, where he led a research group covering these areas; his earlier roles include InterDigital, Huawei, Vubiquity, Digital Fountain, and Harmonic.
Across his twenty-five years in video delivery, Alex contributed to MPEG, DASH-IF, SCTE, and CTA WAVE, as well as the x264 open-source encoder. He is an editor of the MPEG-DASH specification, founder and co-chair of the ACM Mile-High Video conference and was the President of the DASH Industry Forum. He is a 2022 Emmy® awardee for MPEG-DASH. He has more than 130 granted patents, and is a Senior Member of the IEEE and an SVTA Technical Fellow. He holds an MSEE degree from Stanford University and a BSc degree in Computer Science from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
