Netflix

Mark Watson is a senior member of the engineering team at Netflix, focusing on technology standardization and streaming client architecture and algorithms. He has represented Netflix in a number of standardization fora, including W3C and MPEG.  He previously held the position of Director of Research at Digital Fountain, working on internet video delivery solutions and a Principal Engineer position at Qualcomm. He was a significant contributor to the development of the MPEG DASH adaptive streaming standard and more recently to the Encrypted Media and Media Source extensions to HTML5 as well as numerous other standards for media delivery over IP networks.

  • The workshop is an open session co-organised by the W3C Second Screen Presentation Working Group. The working group’s goal is to define APIs that enable web pages to use secondary screens to display web content. This workshop will discuss use cases for multiscreen scenarios and technical details for implementation and usage by application developers.
