May 8–9, 2014 – Fraunhofer FOKUS

Hermann Lichte

Director Innovation Management, Germany

net mobile AG

Dr. Hermann Simon Lichte received his Ph.D. from the University of Paderborn in Germany for his research on cooperative transmission protocols for wireless multi-hop networks. Since January 2013, Dr. Lichte is leading the Innovation Management team at net mobile AG, responsible for new product and business development.

Under his supervision, net mobile AG developed the world’s first HTML5-based tablet running a modified version of Mozilla’s open source operating system. Additionally, Dr. Lichte supervised a collaboration project with Bell Labs to significantly improve the quality of service of the company’s Mobile TV solution by replacing the conventional bitrate adaptation of HTTP live streaming with a novel context-aware resource allocation algorithm that could reduce the number of video stalls by a factor of 6 while keeping the same average bitrate.
