Sven Pagel

Dr. Dipl.-Kfm. Sven Pagel is professor of Information Systems and Media Management at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences (HS Mainz). As director, he is in charge of the “Media, IT, and Management” bachelor program at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences. Since 2014, he has been spokesperson of the Media Economics Division of the German Society for Journalism and Communication Studies (DGPuK). Between 2004 and 2013 he was professor in Dusseldorf. His main scientific interest lies in digital communication in Internet media through moving images and in Web usability research.

 

Before his academic career, he had been working for radio broadcasters in the fields of information technology and digital television, and on their Internet staff. He studied business administration in Gießen (Germany), Edinburgh (Scotland), and Montpellier (France), and he obtained a doctorate degree from the Institute of Journalism at the Dortmund University of Technology with a thesis on media economics.
