5th FOKUS Media Web
Symposium

May 20–21, 2015 – Fraunhofer FOKUS

Dave Conway-Jones

Senior Inventor, Mobile Embedded Technology Consultant

IBM United Kingdom Limited

David Conway-Jones has been working as a Senior Inventor in the IBM Emerging Technology Services team in the UK for over 10 years, building customer prototypes for wireless and sensor solutions that use technologies such as ZigBee, RFid, Embedded Linux, Node.js, Java, Bluetooth, Wireless LAN, LoRa and 3G/GPRS. Most recently he has been working on several vehicle, wireless sensor and telemetry based projects, in the areas of mesh networking and low power data collection.

His current favourite project – Node-RED – was created in response to the ever decreasing project cycle times, and ever increasing number of devices and integration points.

Previously he worked in the Wireless e-business, Sensors and Actuators division, Network Computer division and OEM Technology Sales groups as a technical leader, and prior to that was a hardware design engineer working on digital video and laser printer adapters.

  • Workshop 3 focusses on approaches how to overcome the fragmentation of vertically oriented closed systems, architectures and application areas. A Web of “things” is the most promising approach to deliver open systems and platforms that support multiple applications. Workshop 3 tries to draw up a roadmap for the Web of Things addressing following three topics: (1) Web of Things technologies and protocols, (2) cross-application domains, (3) market development and current trends.
